SPORTS PHYSICAL

 

A sports physical is recommended every two years for all sports.

The link above will take you to a form you can download to use for the physical.  You may also use a form provided by your health care professional.  The best place to get a sports physical is at the well-child annual examination with your regular doctor.  If you have a regular physician at Scott & White, they will do sports physicals at the annual exam for no additional charge, or within 12 months of the last annual examination for a fee.  If you do not regularly go to Scott & White, you will have to have a complete exam (at the full examination cost) in order to have a physical done there.  As an alternative, Belton Chiropractic & Wellness (325 N. Main - 933-2273) will do physicals for a reasonable rate, as will other clinics.

HYDRATION

It is critical for athletes to remain hydrated to avoid cramping, gastric distress, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and other issues.  All athletes should bring adequate water or sports drinks to practice and games.  The team will also endeavor to provide water, but it is ultimately your responsibility to maintain your own hydration.  You should be drinking 6-12 ounces of fluid every 15-20 minutes of activity, and more when it is hot and you are sweating more.  For more detailed information, click on the link above.
