BYLAWS

General Information :

It is the STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY to make sure you're receiving all Beta information. This means checking the website regularly.

Meetings will be held once a month at a location and time determined at the previous meeting and will be posted on the Centex Charger BETA site.

As soon as possible after its activation in the fall semester of the school year, this chapter of National Senior Beta will undertake a program of service which will be of benefit to the Centex Christian Homeschool Coalition. This project will be decided upon by club sponsors.

Community Service Hours and Activity Points:

All Beta Club members must complete at least 15 hours of service and have 10 activity points per year.

-Community Service (15 hours)

To receive credit, students must complete an individual service form for each project.

Forms must be turned into the Student Secretary or a Sponsor.

Service hours must directly benefit public organizations (schools, libraries, fire/police departments, etc.) or non-profit organizations that provide free services to our community (ex. Habitat for Humanity, Humane Society, soup kitchens/shelters, neighborhood cleanup, nursing home/hospital programs, benefit dinners, community festivals, etc.) Students must not receive any compensation for their community service.

Students who do not meet the club service requirements in a year will not be in Beta Club the following school year. Seniors who do not meet the service requirement will not be recognized as Beta club members at graduation.

Club-sponsored service projects allow members to simultaneously earn service hours and activity points. Each Club-sponsored service project that is attended will award you one activity point.

-Activity Points (10 points)

Activity points are awarded for attendance of meetings and for participating in club events.

Members will earn 1 activity point for attending induction, leadership summit, district convention or state convention, and for attending club meetings.

Standards of Membership:

Beta Club is a service organization with very high standards of membership. If you are involved in any activity which necessitates disciplinary action, it may be cause for dismissal from the club. This will be at the discretion of the club sponsors and Charger leadership.

Beta members must always remember that during any volunteer position they hold as a Beta Club member, they are representing Centex Chargers HSA, our club and the National Beta Club. It is important to dress, act, and speak appropriately in these situations.

Loss of Membership:

Students receiving poor reviews from community leaders, teachers or parents will be placed on probation for one semester so that they will have an opportunity to improve their grades and citizenship.

Students will also be subject to losing membership if a consistent lack of participation is observed.

Dues:

The local dues of this chapter, the Centex Chargers HSA Beta Club, will be $20 per year. The cost will give you membership for the duration of your High School career and help offset costs of the club.

All members are expected to participate in club fundraisers to fund service projects and to defray the cost of activities in which the members participate.

The bylaws of this chapter of National Senior Beta may be amended by a majority vote of the membership, provided such proposed amendment is placed before the chapter at a previous meeting.
