Fields of Faith is this Wednesday, 10/8/14 at CTCS beginning at 6:30.

 

What is Fields of Faith?  It is a nationwide FCA event where student athletes come together on individual campuses to pray for, share with, and challenge their peers to follow Jesus boldly.  An athletic field provides a neutral, rally point.  It should be over by 8:30.

 

CTCS has asked the Chargers to join them for their event.  A light meal is usually provided and the main speaker this year is a Baylor football player.  The event is free and fun!  Wear your Charger shirt and let’s have a huge Charger turn-out!

 

Also, Saturday, November 1st is FCA Football Game Day.  For $10.00 you get a ticket for UMHB vs HSU football game along with a meal and a pre-game rally.  Ticket pick-up is at 11:45, pre-game rally begins at 12:00 pm and kick-off is at 1:00 pm.  Let us know if you are interested in going.  We will meet and sit together as a group.

Charger Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

Sunday, September 28th

5:00 – 7:30 p.m.

West Temple Park (121 S. Montpark Road, Temple - off 2305)

Any Charger 6th grade and up is encouraged to attend

 

EXCITING NEWS: Charger FCA has adopted West Temple Park!  We will pick-up trash, have a brief meeting along with a devotional, and then play.  Bring volleyballs, Frisbees, basketballs, and soccer balls.

·        11/19/14, Wednesday - Volleyball Game Day - Baylor vs Texas…$10 per person includes a ticket to the game, shirt, hot dog and drink and a pre game rally at the Baylor Softball Getterman Stadium.

·        12/6/14, Saturday - Football Game Day - Baylor vs Kansas State $35 per person includes a ticket to the game, shirt, hot dog and drink and a pre game rally at the Baylor Clyde Hart Track Stadium.

End-of-year Fellowship of Christian Athletes event:

On Friday, May 9th we will attend a Round Rock Express baseball game at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.  Game starts at 7:05 pm.  There will be fireworks after the game!

If you are interested in carpooling, we will meet at 7-11 by the Expo at 5:15 pm. 

Tickets at the door cost $8.00, but you can still purchase discounted tickets from any Charger baseball player– 6 tickets for $20.  These tickets never expire, so you can use some for another game.

If you want an individual ticket, e-mail and I’ll sell them individually for $3.50.  All proceeds will go towards our Charger baseball trip to the World Series.

We will be sitting in the grassy area, so bring a blanket. 

This is open to all Charger athletes and coaches, along with their families and friends.

Discounted ticket sells will end April 19th at the track meet, so let us know soon.

Here is an opportunity for our Charger FCA to make a global impact:

Athletic International Missions (AIM) and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) have teamed up to host sports camps in the Sosua area (Dominican Republic) June 10th – 18th.

Coaches and athletes are in need of used sports equipment. 

Items they are needing are:  Baseball gloves, bats balls, catcher’s gear, umpire gear, bases, volleyballs, nets, knee pads, uniform, tennis shoes, basketballs, hoops, nets, shoes, uniforms, soccer balls, goals/nets, cleats, shin guards, and training equipment.

Items may be brought to baseball practice, volleyball workouts, or the track meet.  We will be collecting through the month of April.

Charger FCA community service this Saturday, 3/22/14, at 10:00 am at Margaret Kiesle’s house to do some spring cleaning for her.  Mrs. Kiesle is a widow who has been a part of the Charger organization since the beginning.  RSVP to let me know if you are coming, and I’ll give you the address at that time; it will be in the south Temple area.  We will mainly be raking leaves, so bring a rake and gloves if you have them.

 

VALENTINE DELIVERY:  Friday, February 14 we will be delivering Valentines to Veterans at the VA.  Meeting time is 12:45.  Let us know if you can come.

BAYLOR BASKETBALL GAMEDAY:  March 1st on Baylor's campus.  $10.00 includes game ticket, FCA merchandise, food voucher, and pre-game rally.  Let us know by 1/24/14 if you can make it.

For December we are going to collect new or gently used shoes of all sizes, from toddlers to adults. They will benefit kids that are registered with the Communities in Schools program. Football families may bring their shoes to the football banquet and baseball families may bring shoes to practice. Other Charger families may get them to me at a convenient time or drop them off at Scholotzsky's in Killeen, Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Belton, or Temple. The deadline is December 15th. (50 pairs donated)

 

Friday, November 15th, 7:00-9:00: Chargers 6th grade and up, girls and guys, will meet at the Heisch's house for food, games, and community service. We will fill care packages that will be delivered to Meals on Wheels clients. Please bring small items that the elderly would appreciate and use. Ideas are Kleenex packages, hand sanitizer, shampoo, soap, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc. We plan to roast marshmallows, if the weather cooperates. Map provided upon

Thursday, December 5th, 6:00-9:00: Charger players, coaches, & parents, 14 years old and older (HEB's rule) - join us as we serve at HEB's Feast of Sharing at the Frank Mayborn Convention Center. We have to apply for this service opportunity, so e-mail me back, at k2heisch@gmail.com by 11/7/13 if you can participate.

UMHB Game Day: September 28, 2013. This is an exciting year for UMHB Football as they are opening up their brand new Crusader Stadi-um this season. This year’s game day will be against Sul Ross. For just $10, you will be able to attend a pre-game rally, food, t-shirt and a ticket to the game. Rally starts at 5:00 pm and kick-off is at 6:00 pm. 

FCA GAME DAY WITH BAYLOR FOOTBALL: October 5, 2013. This year’s FCA Game Day with BU Football will be against West Virginia. For $20 you will hear an awesome message, receive FCA merchandise, a voucher for food and a drink, and a ticket to the game. Rally begins 1 hour before kick-off. 

Field of Faith at CTCS Frazee Field: October 9, 2013. Fields of Faith is a nationwide event where students invite their own peers and teammates to gather on an athletic field and share their testimonies, challenge each other to read the Bible, and proclaim the gospel. I would love for the Chargers to have a huge showing for this! This event is FREE! Optional t-shirts are available for purchase.
